from Dad - Allow me to introduce my daughter Casey. Casey moved
to Canada from Australia early in 2001 and later that year was married at
the age of 18. Unfortunately this was a big mistake and earlier this year,
only a few months before turning 22
she was
divorced.
Needless to say there have
been some mountains to climb over the last period in her life. I suggested
that she read a book that I featured in a newsletter late in 2004 called
"Every Day a Little Miracle".
Recently I asked her to come
and work for me and the first task I gave her was to write an article
telling what she thought of the book. - Here is what she wrote.
Hi, my name is Casey
Wright. I am David
Wright's
eldest daughter.
Dad encouraged me
to write an article for his
newsletter as a means of
telling
people something I would like to share.
Late
last year
I was diagnosed with Depression, I don’t know if you have or know
of anyone with this illness. If
you don’t let me just say that I would never wish it upon anyone.
I have always been a very active person. From the moment I
wake up till the moment my eyes close at night to sleep.
If I’m not doing something I’m bored!
Having depression was really hard for me. In
the beginning I slept all day and all night. I had no motivation to do or be
anything. I was finding
that the easiest thing like going to the shop to buy milk would find
me in tears because I couldn’t handle it.
My car would need fuel and again I would break down.
My Dad
has always told me that because of my personality, when
I have highs they were very high
and when I have lows they are very low
but this was a constant major low!
I wasn’t able to
do anything strenuous or I would just sleep for the next week or
so.
I started reading to
try and pass the time without being in a state of anxiety or
stress, and just to pass the time awake, as I felt guilty
always sleeping!
I started reading
‘Every Day A Little Miracle’ written by Kirsten Kuhnert and
published by Smart Publishing. Dad
recommends and sells this book through his web-site and so he
suggested I read it. It is
a true story of a German family, 2 kids and a happily
married couple. Their
children were 2 and 4, a boy and a girl.
Perfect! Until
one day a major accident changed their whole lives forever.
This book takes you
in on the long journey to survival not only for their injured son
but as a mother and father and sister and not when I say survival, I
mean from the moment they woke up till the moment they lay down to
sleep. It wakes you up
to how lucky we really are? It makes
you wonder what battles are my neighbours
struggling
with everyday that I can be thankful for that I don’t have?
I found that having depression and being able to recover so quickly
was a miracle every day. This
book helped me to realize that there are so many other people in
life that have it worse off than me and how lucky I am to be able to
actually get out of bed in the morning and function normally.
It taught me again to realise how precious a smile
is…………Yes A SMILE! A TEAR! A LAUGH!
If I could I would make everybody in the world read this
book in the hope that it can put a new light on your life and make
you realize what is really around you and how lucky you really are.
It gave me a
direction….the direction to get better and enjoy life like I once
did. I face up and step out that door in the morning and make sure
that when I walk in that evening I am still smiling, even if I had a
pretty shocking day. But
smiling because I have a wonderful new partner
who loves me, two beautiful dogs that love me, a roof over my head,
the ability to walk, run, laugh, hug someone, the list could go on.
I would love to
share with you the trials and triumphs that this wonderful family
went through but I would spoil the book for you if you were
to read it.
If you are looking for a heartfelt, heart
warming book, or an
inspirational book, or a book about a creature that fascinates me no
end (dolphins),
then I highly recommend this book to you, it is a fantastic book.
If there are a few
words that I hope you will take out of this book they would be love
above all else, compassion, hope, strength, fight
to dream and dream to fight, never say no, courage, appreciation of life, faith, thankfulness
and again this list could go on.
So in closing I would like to thank Kirsten for sharing this
amazing book with me and for Christian (a friend) for showing
Dad and me
the book.
It
has not left me unmoved and I pray that no one will.
Dad Again:- You may recall I recommended this book last
December as an idea for a Christmas gift because I thought it was a
'must read' that would be of great value to anyone who read it. I
still have supplies available. The price is $24.95 and for this newsletter
I will pay the postage for you if you would like a copy.
